Breakfast Ideas for Kids

Wandering into the kitchen with Cassi in one arm and a strawberry in the other, we started discussing breakfast. Oatmeal? Done it. Cereal, had for dinner last night. Pancakes, hmmmm kind of boring. Unless they are green eyed, whip cream eyebrows, and raspberry syrup smily faces. Oh, and those strawberries? Chopped up and mixed in.

Now, you may be thinking that is a one way trip to health issues. I get it and am one step ahead of you. I have always enjoyed making pancakes for the kiddos. Seriously, what a great opportunity to drop in some protein powder, chia seeds, flaxseed or mct oil with the syrup. Shape them into dinosaurs, or hearts for mommy. The intent here is to involve your children with preparation and cooking. Secondly, creativity in the kitchen to encourage healthy eating comes in many forms. In fact, this same creative thinking is what we use while camping.

Again, have fun (carefully) in the kitchen. Get creative with ice eggs delivered by aliens from Pluto or molten lava eggs that erupted from the sun. Have the kiddos whip the mix, beat the eggs, but please, so I don’t get in too much trouble here, clean up the mess.

Edible food color.

Happily married to an absolute dream come true woman, Ami. Who has blessed me with two absolute dream come true children, Orion and Cassi. Now my goal everyday is to do life with my children. Whether I go shopping or in the kitchen cooking, my children will be right there with me. Talking through my actions, involving them in decision making and understanding options available. Pitching tents, trails to hike and adventures to come, they will be my side.
