What is insanity?

Albert Einstein tells us the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Well since returning from a last minute camping trip with Orion and Cassi, during one of the busiest holidays/weekends for outdoor enthusiasts, archery season, wanna be jeep and quad drivers from out of state, I started to question the definition. So I picked up the phone and set up a meeting with Mr. Einstein (Brad).

As we made our way through small talk about quantum physics and particle theory, drinking our Dirty Hippy Frappuccino’s, I asked Big A (we are tight), am I insane for what I did this weekend? I mean I have camped solo with my 2 and 4 year old before. Frazzled, tired, no sleep, mud, hunger, and cold…..Albert leaned in to me and said John you know what I see? Adventures, lifetime memories, creative minds being encouraged, comfort in the outdoors, learning about bugs, rocks and bird sounds. Wiping Frappuccino off his white mustache, Big A leaned in and said, John, yes you are insane and you know what, as a daddy or a theoretical theorist we have to be a little insane to stay sane. So keep doing it.

After a bro hug and a knuckle punch, Albert departed with wisdom bestowed and…huh, wait who is paying for the frappucino bill????

Happily married to an absolute dream come true woman, Ami. Who has blessed me with two absolute dream come true children, Orion and Cassi. Now my goal everyday is to do life with my children. Whether I go shopping or in the kitchen cooking, my children will be right there with me. Talking through my actions, involving them in decision making and understanding options available. Pitching tents, trails to hike and adventures to come, they will be my side.
